Allegheny Valley Chamber Web site driving business with interactive design from Nauticom

Allegheny Valley Chamber of Commerce launched its new interactive Web site -- designed by Nauticom Internet Services Web development division -- offering easy to update functionality, tools, and resources for area businesses, along with a fresh look and feel that reflects the community of the Allegheny Valley region.

The recent Tribune-Review’s Valley News Dispatch article (linked below) stated that Chamber officials agreed that the change was overdue, and the Chamber board recognized the need for a more efficient informational resource for their area.

Chambers of Commerce, by their mission, are repositories for vital current contact and local business resource information for the business and residential communities they serve. To facilitate those functions that require constant updates of information, the Allegheny Valley Chamber site was designed to allow Chamber officials to easily add and change content at will with only basic word processing skill-sets.

The Chamber mission is also to bring businesses and the community together to interact, thereby supporting the area’s local business climate and affecting the economic health of the community.

To support that mission, the website was designed to house a community calendar that allows members of the community to automatically submit details of their event, "anything from the simple to the sublime," says Tim Sweet, Nauticom sales manager.

Additionally, with Web advertising gaining viewership that rivals traditional media, the site was also designed to allow local businesses to advertise their products and services to the Allegheny Valley and beyond. Combined with the listings in the members’ directory, this brings a vital resource to local businesses and the local economy and an added benefit to the advertising businesses.

These linkable ads and membership directory inclusions play an important part in aiding the businesses advertising on the site to be found by consumers doing Internet searches. Search engines, like Google, respond to ’link popularity’ - the more sites linked to your site, the more likely the search engines will list your site higher in their searches, and the more likely a consumer will find that local business. A win/win/win situation for the Chamber, its members, and the community.
